Springfield College seeks applications for the position of Reference
Technology Librarian. This position has responsibility for providing
reference service in a highly automated environment; coordinating reference
technology; and assisting in collection development and maintenance.
Duties include: to conduct reference interviews to determine information
needs, decide upon reserouces to use, explain and teach their use;
participate in collection development with assigned academic departments.
Instruct on and promote the use of library facilities and resources
including the online catalog, periodical databases, Internet and other
reference tools. Responsible for changes to online catalog and database
interfaces, troubleshooting, maintaining current and appropriate databases
and software, and communicating with databases and catalog vendors.
Qualifications: Qualifications include: Master's degree in Library Science
from an ALA accredited institution required. A minimum of two years
experience in library services preferred. Excellent organizational,
interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage complexity and
implement change. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities; to handle
sensitive, confidential information in a mature, professional manner.
Ability to interact positively with a diverse campus constituency.
Salary: Salary range: $24,687 to $33,327 commensurate with experience.
