Reference/Electronic Services Librarian

Indiana University of Pennsylvania seeks a Reference/Electronic Services
Librarian.  This is a 9-month, tenure-track position, with additional summer
employment possible.  Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Minimum salary:  $39,361.80, with an excellent fringe benefit package.  As
part of the Reference core team, the Librarian will provide traditional and
electronic Reference desk service, promote and offer bibliographic
instruction, support movement toward information literacy, and serve as
liaison, including collection development to specified departments.  Duties
include one evening weekly and rotating weekends.  As Electronic Services
Librarian, duties are:  Act as consultant to university faculty and staff
through the Instructional Design Center (IDC), located within the main
library, and aid departmental faculty in incorporating electronic resources
into their web pages and courseware management software (WebCT).  Design web
pages and instructional modules/tutorials with classroom faculty to support
teaching, learning, and scholarship.  Participate in digital library
initiatives, as they develop, with librarians, other faculty, and staff.
Contribute to the development of the library's website, residing in a
Windows environment.  Develop, publicize, and give instruction for distance
education services, as well as maintain supporting web pages.  Provide
training to library faculty and staff in instructional and web design.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  ALA-accredited MLS.  Second masters in a subject
area required for tenure.    Experience in web and instructional design, in
development of digital resources, and/or in the use of multimedia
applications on the web and authoring software.  Knowledge of print and
electronic reference sources.  Excellent oral and written skills.  In order
to be a finalist the candidate must be able to communicate well in an
interview.  Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Desired Qualifications:  Creativity and flexibility.  Current, demonstrable
skills in web development and design, including trends, formats, and
standards.  Experience in a university library, reference, and teaching.
Commitment to student and faculty service and meeting their needs.   Ability
to work both independently and collegially in a changing environment.
