University of Wisconsin – Whitewater 

Andersen Library
  
Position:           Serials Librarian  

                        Academic Staff, Annual Renewable Appointment

                        Full-time, 12 months appointment
 
Starting Date:    Immediately
 
Responsibilities:
1.      Plan, coordinate and manage the overall operation of Serials in
consultation with the Coordinator of Library Technical Processing. 
2.      Supervise Serials staff (3 FTE staff plus student assistants).
3.      Manage the periodicals help desk.
4.      Assist in developing and implementing short-term and long-term
operational goals and objectives for the Technical Processing Unit.
5.      Responsible for collection management and processing of Serials
including electronic serials.
6.      Share some reference duties.
 
Salary range is $33,906 to $40,000 depending on candidate’s qualifications
and experience.
 
Qualifications:
Required:
      ·        MLS from an ALA accredited institution.
      ·        Library experience preferably in Serials.
      ·        Knowledge of the principles of serial management and of
current and national issues in the acquisitions and processing of serials.
      ·        Knowledge of technical services activities and trends.
      ·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
      ·        Experience in integrated library automation systems
(preferably Voyager) and bibliographic utilities.
      ·        Hands-on experience in the utilization of current technology
for technical processing.
 
Preferred:
      ·        Second advanced degree in an academic discipline.
