Convenes Interactive Meetings on
Collaborative Reference in the Digital Age
The Collaborative Digital Reference Service (CDRS) is an international
effort coordinated by the Library of Congress that intends to provide
professional reference service to researchers any time anywhere, through
an international, digital network of libraries and related institutions.
LC is holding a fun and entertaining event to capture your opinions and
ideas for how the CDRS:
**can contribute to the increased relevance of libraries in their
communities
**can be extended for direct access by end users
**can help build the brand of its member libraries
LC will convene 6 interactive meetings during the American Library
Association
Midwinter conference in January 2001 in Washington DC. These meetings
will use a blend of discussion and digital voting technology.
We are seeking volunteers to take this opportunity to help determine the
future of this collaborative and related efforts.
Each interactive session is two hours, and there are 12 slots in each
session. We are seeking librarians who are aware of digital reference
issues and who have decision-making responsibilities in their respective
institutions. The schedule is described below.
SATURDAY January 13, 2001
9:30am - 11:30am:
CDRS Members Only
1:30pm - 3:30pm:
representatives from libraries serving community populations over 200,000
or academic populations over 10,000
SUNDAY January 14, 2001
12:30pm - 2:30pm:
representatives from libraries serving community populations over 200,000
or academic populations over 10,000
3:30pm - 5:30pm:
representatives from libraries serving community populations up to 200,000
or academic populations up to 10,000
MONDAY January 15, 2001
9:30am - 11:30am:
representatives from libraries serving community populations up to 200,000
or academic populations up to 10,000
1:30pm - 3:30pm:
representatives from libraries serving community populations up to 200,000
or academic populations up to 10,000
All sessions are in the Library of Congress Madison Building, on Capitol
Hill. Specific location details will follow later.

spaces are available for each session.
