University Systems Librarian
Tufts University
Tufts University seeks an experienced University Systems Librarian
with
a strong customer focus. Candidate will join the University Library
Technology Services department, which supports the shared technology
activities of the four university libraries, including DRA Classic
automation software, transitioning to the TAOS product. The position
provides operational and technical systems support for all VMS and NT
applications, as well as for web and proxied web services. The USL
works with and backs up the Systems Administrator for NT server
support
and assists with NT workstation configuration for DRA client software.
Works closely with ULTS Director participating in facilitating library
automation teams. This position provides training and documentation
support.
Qualifications required: Masters degree in Library/Information Science
with a minimum of 3 years experience; Experience managing library
automation software; Familiarity with databases, MARC records,
metadata
concepts; Expertise in the VMS operating system; Demonstrable
expertise
in Windows NT server, workstation, and networking technologies;
Experience with web server management, HTML, HTTP protocols, and CGI
programming; Excellent oral & written communication skills for support
and training activities; Excellent interpersonal skills with all
levels
of internal & external relationships; Strong organizational skills to
manage simultaneous projects and tasks; Ability to work under stress,
and to work independently. Involves on-call responsibilities and
occasional weekend work.
