Dear Colleagues:
As you are no doubt aware, the ACRL 10th National Conference will be
held in Denver, CO, from March 14-18, 2001.
I am on the subcommittee offering folks the opportunity to lead a
discussion at one of the round tables at the 10th National. There
will be two sessions of round tables, as there were last year.
We have received a few proposals for round tables already without
making a specific call for discussion leaders. Among topics chosen
are: management of electronic journals, library faculty and campus
governance, library resources for distance ed, and developing library
leaders. Ideally, we would like a couple of dozen of these more
informal programs on topics that may be either burning hot issues or
updates on topics we all used to know something about, e.g.,
preservation of paper resources in this day and age.
I am writing to ask you to consider being a round table leader and/or
to forward this to your staff and colleagues whom you consider to be
potential round table leaders.
Responsibilities of Round Table Leader (details will come later from
ACRL)
-- Show up early and ensure that the table is all set up.
-- Appoint time keeper (or have done so ahead of time and have worked
out signals)
-- Frame the discussion of the topics with a brief overview of the
area under discussion listing a few problems to discuss.
-- Keep the discussion going, bring everyone into the discussion, end
on time.
Times for Round Tables
-- First round table session: Friday, March 16, 2001 from 8:00-9:00
a.m.
-- Second round table session: Saturday, March 17, 2001 from 11:30
a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
