Evans Library
Reporting to the Library Director, the Systems Librarian provides SIRSI
integrated library system administration including indexing and online
public access catalog displays; assures SIRSI system and database security
and integrity; provides ongoing functional support for SIRSI and several
Z39.50 accessible files; works with Library teams to resolve SIRSI
functionality problems and to improve workflow through better utilization
of SIRSI and OCLC; plans, coordinates and implements SIRSI projects,
maintenance, and updates; trains staff and communicates information about
SIRSI; assists with technical planning, budgeting, and priority
management; seeks and evaluates other applications and processes to
improve cataloging workflow (outsourcing, MARCIVE, etc.); loads purchased
authority records and oversees catalog authority maintenance; assists with
projects that integrate information from different systems into a single
user interface, and coordinates SIRSI input-output for integration with
other systems such as EBSCO and BANNER; assures appropriate utilization of
SIRSI reporting capabilities; develops policies, procedures and
documentation for SIRSI users; participates in the design and maintenance
of the Library Information Network (homepage); plans and implements URL
maintenance and other database issues related to cataloging of electronic
materials.
Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS; two years of professional library
experience in an academic or research library; outstanding verbal,
written, and interpersonal communication skills. Preferred experience: two
or more years of practical experience managing an integrated library
automation system, preferably SIRSI; required knowledge of MARC authority
and bibliographic formats; experience with OCLC Online Union Catalog and
Authority File; two years experience in cataloging and/or database
maintenance; Informix experience.
Salary: Commensurate with experience; faculty status, 12-month annual
