POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Librarian I – Reference/Information
Tarleton State University seeks a self-motivated and service oriented
librarian. Reporting to the Division Head for Tarleton University
System Center – Central Texas – Library, this individual will provide a
full range of reference services in a dynamic, service-oriented
university library.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES. Reference desk service (some nights and
weekends); support/assist user access to electronic, WWW, print
resources; bibliographic instruction.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS. ALA accredited MLS; knowledge of reference
sources, electronic information systems, and methods of scholarly
research in academic libraries. Must work and communicate effectively
with library staff and university community. Commitment to service,
professional growth and development.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS. Academic library experience; teaching
experience; knowledge of DRA integrated library system.
SETTING. The Tarleton University System Center – Central Texas -
Library is located in Killeen, Texas, and is a part of the Texas A&M
System. Tarleton State University supports undergraduate and graduate
programs on a campus of approximately 6,500 students. The library is
committed to offering the latest in information technology.
SALARY & BENEFITS. $27,000 for 12 months; choice of medical and
retirement programs; no state or local income taxes; state vacation and
holidays.
