My informal tribute to the first decade of PACS-L is finally ready for
consumption--at least in its long form: "Talking About Public Access: PACS-L's
First Decade."

It's much too long to post here (7,800 words or about 50K), so I've posted it on
my personal Web site. It's also too long to read online for most of us, but it
should print nicely. Except for a few headings, it uses whatever default
typeface and type size you've set for your browser--I'd suggest Times New Roman
if you don't have some other serif face set as a default. With my own default
face it runs to 15 printed pages.

Please go through the "front door" for my Web-only pieces on libraries, media,
and the future:

http://home.att.net/~wcc.libmedx

(The front door has a people counter--but no banner ads or graphics, so it won't
slow you down much.)

The article is the first link on that page, at least until I add something else
in that section.

Thanks to the PACS-L folk who submitted comments, and to the PACS-L moderators
(almost all of whom read a draft version--somewhat more controversial, even less
well edited--and sent comments). Don't blame the moderators or contributors for
what's here: this is my work.

NOTE: Yes, I do plan to prepare an article on this topic for possible print
publication--but the publication I have in mind has a maximum length of 2,000
words, so I have a *lot* of editing to do before that article is submitted, much
less published.
