Assistant Director for Library Systems
The Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center Library invites
applications for the position of Assistant Director for Library Systems.
Saint Louis University, a Catholic Jesuit institution is dedicated to
education, research and health care. The Health Sciences Center library
serves the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health, and
Center for Health Care Ethics and the SLUC Care Hospitals. The Saint Louis
University Libraries share a multi-campus integrated library system
(Innovative Interfaces and the OVID suite of databases) with the
University of Missouri Library System.
The primary responsibilities: provides leadership in the evaluation and
integration of new technologies and new approaches to the delivery of
information, manages the Library's computing network and systems,
supervises the Computer Lab Coordinator and Library's Network Analyst,
provides relevant staff training and support, provides extensive data
analysis and generates reports, recommends policy, procedures and
purchases, and coordinates the Library website. This position plays a
significant role in the Library's administrative and cross-functional
teams and represents the Library on Merlin and other external
teams/committees. This position reports to the Library Director. Required:
ALA accredited MLS or equivalent. Five years of experience in a health
sciences library with increasing responsibility. Working knowledge of
Windows NT and Novell, Microsoft Office Suite, TCP/IP, Web applications,
MARC, and experience with an integrated library system, preferable
Innovative Interfaces Inc. Demonstrated ability in data analysis and
report generation also required. Knowledge of OCLC and Docline is highly
desirable. This position requires excellent written and verbal
communication skills including the ability to communicate technical
information to a broad range of audiences. Additional requirements
include a demonstrated ability to manage shifting priorities and heavy
workload while coping with interruptions. The successful candidate will
initiate problem-solving, work independently and as a member of the
Library Administrative Team and will work well with a diverse, adult
constituency. Minimum salary: $50,000. Review of applicants will begin
