                 REFERENCE AND INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES LIBRARIAN

The University Library seeks an experienced, visionary individual wishing to
exercise leadership in planning, coordinating, implementing and assessing an
expanding and evolving instructional mission.  The instructional mission is
under redesign and is anticipated to expand beyond current general in-library
orientation and a one-hour credit information literacy course.  A wide range of
web-based tutorials are being considered as well as exploration of options to
more widely infuse information literacy concepts and skills into the university
curriculum.  The University has a strong commitment to achieving diversity.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Effectively assists patrons with their information
needs by performing general and specialized reference work and on or off-site
library instruction. Actively participates in collection development.  Serves as
library liaison to the College of Education and other departments as assigned.
Fulfills requirements of faculty status in areas of contributions to
librarianship, scholarly activities, and service.

QUALIFICATIONS:  ALA accredited M.L.S. Minimum of two years of academic or
research library reference experience and demonstrated success as an instructor
in an information literacy or library instruction program.  Recent experience
with developing, coordinating, and assessing library instruction programs and in
the application of new technologies to instruction.  Experience with print and
electronic reference sources, desktop and internet applications. Ability to set
and attain goals effectively.  Excellent organizational, planning,
interpersonal, communication and written skills.  Must be flexible and capable
of working successfully individually as well as in teams in a changing library
environment.   Ability to work with users of varying technical experience.
Desired:  An earned subject masters degree in addition to the M.L.S., preferably
in education or other social science disciplines.

SALARY/BENEFITS: Salary range is lower to mid $40
