A 7-minute spot-check in the midst of the evolution (if you need more
than 7 minutes, it may not be worth the trouble).
--------------------------
DEFINITIONS:

"Connected" = Using a PC or terminal normally linked to the
Internet/BITNET, where you're aware of inbound messages, at least
  occasionally.

"Disconnected" = Using a PC (Mac, NeXT, etc.) *not* linked to
the Internet/BITNET as a rule (e.g., you might check mail once or
twice a day. Ditto terminal used in lieu of such a PC.

"Off" = Not using a PC or terminal at all.
(The same device can be CONNECTED and DISCONNECTED, if that's how
   you use it.)

"Creative," "Productive," "Informed" = However *you* define the words.
-------------
1. When (if) you do creative work related to the library field,
do you normally do it: (a) Connected, (b) Disconnected, (c) Off.

2. When (if) you do other creative work, do you normally do it:
   (a) Connected, (b) Disconnected, (c) Off.

3. Do you feel that you do your *best* work (in any field):
   (a) Connected, (b) Disconnected, (c) Off.

4. Has being connected made you:
   (a) More productive, (b) Less productive, (c) Neither/don't know.

5. Has being connected made you:
   (a) More creative, (b) Less creative, (c) Neither/don't know.

6. Do you feel that being connected gives you:
   (a) More free time, (b) Less free time, (c) Neither/don't know.

7. Do you feel that being connected makes you:
   (a) Better informed, (b) Less well-informed, (c) Neither/don't know.

If you need more time than that, this survey isn't worth your time!
I will summarize for the list, and may use the results,
*in cumulated form*, in a talk in mid-October.

If you wish to add a brief comment, feel free; if so, let me know
whether the comment may be posted (signed) back to the list or
elsewhere. Otherwise, all results & comments are taken as confidential.

Many thanks.

=Usual disclaimers apply: my words, my opinions.=
