Reference Librarian/Media Studies
Bryn Mawr College


Bryn Mawr College Library invites applications for the position of
Reference Librarian/Media Studies. This full time position (4 weekdays + 1
weekend day) reports to the Head of Reference Services.  Major
responsibilities include coordinating management and expansion of the
Library's video and sound recordings collection; coordination of the
selection and  support of multimedia hardware and systems; development and
coordination of electronic reference and responding to online queries.

Additional responsibilities include reference service and bibliographic
instruction; reference and general collection development; preparation of
in-house and WWW-based instructional and informational materials including
printed guides and subject resource web pages; and limited backup and
support of circulation operations.

Required: An MLS from an ALA-accredited institution; knowledge of film or
video history and/or background in communications; excellent
organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills;
knowledge of HTML and/or web editors; basic computer competence including
Macintosh and Windows operating systems and basic office software. The
ideal candidate will have professional experience in reference services in
a medium to large academic research library or a special library and a
subject masters in the humanities or social sciences.
