I'm teaching a workshop at ICHM99 (International Cultural Heritage
Informatics Meeting) September 22 in Washington on Immersive Histories,
Interactive Storytelling & computer games. This is a very 'un'museumy
workshop coming from the perspective of computer gaming and interactive
storytelling. While it might be 'un'museumy I think the perspective very
useful if your goal is to attract young folks. I'm starting with their
media (Nintendo, DreamCast, Doom, Unreal) and applying the possibilities
to history which is great game material.

If you have questions you can contact me directly at thom@indiana.edu. I'm
the director of the MIME program at Indiana in newMedia emusement.

ICHM99 is at http://www.archimuse.com/ichim99/ichim99.html

A sketchy outline of my workshop is at

Being an 'un'museumy person means I haven't a clue how to reach museum
folks so if you know of appropriate lists please forward. I know how to
reach the game and interactive storytelling folks.

If you don't know what interactive storytelling is, I have a very rough
essay I'm working on about a recent meeting of 22 folks in the woods of
Southern Oregon who are very interested in the subject. Remember, the
article is rough and has too many images which means the download will be
slow but it might be interesting.
