Cataloging Librarian
Edward Bennett Williams Law Library
Georgetown University Law Center

Georgetown Law Library, with its collection of over 900,000 volumes and a staff
of 70, is one of the country's premier legal research institutions, supporting
an outstanding law school faculty and student body.

We seek a librarian to catalog and classify materials in a variety of languages
and in all formats, including electronic and Internet resources, with an
emphasis on serials and on original cataloging, using LC classification and
subject headings.  The Cataloging Librarian also maintains authority control;
assists in establishing policies, procedures, and workflow; and helps with staff
training and supervision.  She or he reports to the Head of the Cataloging
Department.

Required Qualifications:  Master's degree from an ALA accredited institution.
Thorough knowledge of AACR2, LC classification and subject headings, and MARC
formats.  Two years' cataloging experience using OCLC; experience with
Innovative Interfaces or other major online local library system; experience
with Windows and WWW.  Participation in professional activities.  Ability to
work both independently and as a team member, and to communicate effectively
with individuals and groups.
Preferred Qualifications:  Experience in a law library. Serials cataloging
experience. Reading knowledge of German or French. Supervisory and training
experience.

Salary: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
