Greetings from joneill@wakarusa.lib.in.us
The Wakarusa Public Library is looking to digitize the materials located in
the Historical Room. We are a small library in Indiana serving 5,588, and have
a small but varied collection. We would like to provide greater access to
materials and perserve them by digitizing and later putting them on a web page.
I am looking for a software program that would help us digitize, catalog, and
index.
Included in the collection are written histories that I would like to link
to pictures. I need to index the histories as well as the pictures. Therefore
a patron can sit down at a computer and type the word "bank" in and get the
articles (full text) and pictures to view and print. Or type in a local address
and find what business was there 100 years ago.
Does anyone have some software ideas that I could investigate? I would like
a program that is already assembled, not trying to mix and match different
programs I would need. (Am I asking for the world on a silver platter?)
If you could help me out I would appreicate it. I am not a part of the list
serve, so please rely directly to me joneill@wakarusa.lib.in.us.
Thank you, Jody O'Neill
