POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:
COORDINATOR OF WEB AND INTEGRATED LIBRARY SYSTEM SERVICES

Responsibilities:  Coordinates the ongoing development and maintenance
of the University of Houston Libraries' Internet and Intranet Web services.
Oversees the operations of the Innovative Interfaces INNOPAC integrated
library system. Reports to the Head of Systems.

The Libraries are a leader in providing state-of-the-art electronic
information services. Their Electronic Publications Center has over 140
public workstations. Over 80 networked electronic information resources
are available. The Libraries publish an electronic journal (the PACS
Review) and run the PACS-L discussion list.

Qualifications:  Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school;
at least six months of work experience with Web site creation and
maintenance; and significant academic training in information
technology, including at least one high-level programming language
(or equivalent experience) required. Experience with INNOPAC
management (or other ILS management) preferred. NT and UNIX
background desirable. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of
staff. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and oral/written
communications skills. Ability to work well under pressure, and to
set/attain goals effectively.

Salary:  $37,000. Comprehensive benefits package; choice of retirement
programs including TIAA-CREF; tax-deferred annuity program available;
released time to take a class up to 3 hours/week; no state or local
income tax.

Library Information:  The Libraries are a member of the Association of
Research Libraries, hold over 1.8 million volumes, with a current
materials budget of $4.2 million. Total staff includes 46 professionals

The North Carolina State University Libraries invites applications an=

Research and Information Services Department. By delivering
user-centered services, including 24 hour reference service, an
extensive and flexible program of user education, and support for a r=

and growing array of electronic resources, the department helps the
university community discover, understand, and use information.

Responsibilities
Delivers information and research services to faculty, staff, and
students of the university. Provides general information and research
service at the reference desk, via e-mail and in consultation with
individual library users, (including during evening and weekend hours=

Works closely with faculty, students and staff in the College of
Agriculture and Life Sciences as a departmental liaison to determine =
and
meet service needs and program requirements.  Designs and conducts
classes and seminars in research methods. Develops instructional

Qualifications

COLLECTION MANAGEMENT LIBRARIAN, HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
The Collection Management Department is responsible for developing th=
e
Libraries=92 collections, allocating the collections budget, formulat=
ing
collection development policies, assessing users=92 needs, and perfor=
ming
faculty liaison activities.  The department, composed of seven
librarians and three support staff members, is strongly committed to
building collections that are responsive to user needs and rich in
electronic, multimedia, and traditional print resources.

Responsibilities
Provides leadership for humanities and social sciences collection
development and management.  Performs as primary selector of humaniti=
es
and social sciences materials in all formats, and manages the plannin=
g,
policy development, funding, evaluation, and use of library collectio=
ns
in these subject areas.  Develops and maintains client-focused
relationships with faculty and students to determine collection needs
and priorities.  Serves as chair of the Humanities and Social Science=
