Subject: Net use software
I would appreciate any recommendations for software that provides
summary statistics and reports on dial-in usage _by password_
of a UNIX network.
Please respond to me including producer address/phone
if possible. I would be happy to prepare summary.

Subject: Re: Library Automation Questions
Regarding your questions about OCLC access. OCLC cataloging
module is NOT available via the Internet. Only EPIC and FirstSearch
are available on the Internet. OCLC did a study and will send it
to you if you ask. Basically, the addressing problems of sending
messages back and forth to the proper address was a very great
obstacle.
OCLC via a LAN is another issue. At the recent CIL conference
there was a session that dealt with that issue. I don't remember
who spoke, but it was a large academic setting, and he got into
some fairly detailed analysis about hardware, software, protocols,
etc. I think I have a few notes about this and I can look for them
in the next few days if that would be helpful. I probably don't
have the person's name who spoke, however. Maybe someone else
on the net will remember (or he might speak up for himself!)
