"Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers: the future of data in the global
network"

The International Association for Social Science Information Service and
Technology (IASSIST) and the Canadian Association of Public Data Users
(CAPDU) invite you to register for their joint conference.

AUDIENCE: IASSIST conferences are international and bring together
professionals who are engaged in the creation, acquisition, processing,
social science data. The Canadian Association of Public Data Users
(CAPDU)
is composed of a membership concerned about access to public data for
the purposes of research and policy analysis. The complementary and
overlapping
interests of these two organizations provide a rich spectrum of
expertise in which to explore new ideas and solutions.

CONFERENCE DETAILS: The conference will begin with workshops on Monday
and Tuesday, May 17th and 18th, at the University of Toronto followed by
3 days of plenaries, sessions, and social events, mainly in the Rogers
Communication Building of Ryerson Polytechnic University. Thursday
evening will feature a banquet to celebrate the 25th anniversary of
IASSIST.

Invited plenary speakers include Katherine Wallman (U.S. Office
of Management and Budget), Ray Ryan (Statistics Canada), Antonio Puig
(Instituto Nacional de Estadistica Geografia e Informatica), Hermann
Habermann (UN Statistics Division), Stephen Fienberg (Carnegie Mellon
University),  Tom Smith (National Opinion Research Center), and Barbara
O'Keefe
(University of Michigan).

FEES AND REGISTRATION: Registration materials with accompanying payment
must be mailed or faxed to Ryerson Polytechnic University Conference
Services by **APRIL 16, 1999.** All attendees and presenters must
pre-register and pay the registration fee. The three-day fee covers
conferences,lunches, reception, and banquet. A one-day registration fee
is available for single day attendance. Confirmation will be supplied to
each registrant by mail.

REFUND POLICY:  Registrants who cancel on or before May 7th will receive
a refund of the total amount paid less a $25 administrative charge.
Registrants who cancel after May 12 will not receive a refund.

ACCOMMODATIONS:  Registrants choosing to stay at the conference
hotel/residence are responsible for making their own reservations.
