California Institute of Technology is recruiting for this position which
would be responsible for publishing Oracle's Tutor training documentation
as well as maintaining a document audit and revision control system for
Web documentation of business processes. In the Document Audit and
Maintenance role the publisher will coordinate between different process
owners and functional areas to ensure that document audit is completed
on a regular schedule. S/he will implement and maintain a document
revision control, and set and follow a publication schedule for final
documents, and assist as necessary to ensure that the documents receive
the appropriate authorizations and sign-offs in a timely manner. S/he
will maintain library of documents, publish in paper form and to the web
as necessary, and serve as the primary resource for information on the
documentation and Tutor product on campus. The Publisher may be called
upon to support or participate in audits.

The minimum requirements for education/training and/or experience are
*       advanced college degree considered as a positive factor along
with experience in using Oracle relational databases and applications
software;
*       minimum of five years experience with desktop computers,
preferably both Macintosh and PCs and the associated applications
packages;
*       experienced building web sites using Microsoft FrontPage;
*       experience writing administrative procedures;
*       excellent electronic file management skills;
*       Windows NT, Microsoft Word skills;
*       excellent writing and editing skills,
*       ability to effectively coordinate documentation activities in
different departments

 NOTICE OF PROFESSIONAL VACANCY
 LIBRARY WEB MANAGER
 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT SPECIALIST A/B
 (Search Extended)

 The University of Pennsylvania Library is re-opening its previously
 advertised search for a LIBRARY WEB MANAGER.  We are seeking a
 creative person with good organizational skills, an excellent sense of
 visual design, and strong technical knowledge to coordinate the design,
 development and maintenance of the Library's web site.

 BROAD FUNCTIONS:
 Leads and coordinates the design, development and maintenance of the
 Library's web site.  Develops and promotes standards and style guides
 for use by library web developers.  Provides support for web
 initiatives throughout the library system.  Tracks new web development
 tools and provides training and guidance in their use.  Reports to the
 Director for Public Services.  Serves as a member of the Library's
 Information Systems team.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Leads a library web development team and in consultation with this
 group sets policy and makes decisions relating to web design and
 organization.  Works with all library web developers to maintain the
 quality and utility of the Library's electronic interface.  Develops
 style sheets and standards, and promotes the use of these.  Ensures
 the currency and accuracy of web links and information.  Designs and
 supports customized WWW extensions such as enhanced indexing,
 electronic forms and future applications.  Provides support for new web
 initiatives throughout the library system.  Works closely with Library
 Systemss staff to monitor and evaluate new web development tools, such
 as graphics software, HTML editors and search applications.  Monitors
 web development by peer institutions.  Stays current with HTML
 development, new web browsers, indexing tools, etc.  Trains staff in
 the use of web development tools, provides expert advice and
 consultation.  Works in close cooperation with University web
 developers and others on campus to share expertise and coordinate
 efforts where appropriate.  Maintains statistics on web use.  Supervises
 students assisting in web maintenance.

 QUALIFICATIONS:
 Bachelor's degree or equivalent in theory and practice.   Good working
 knowledge of UNIX, hypermedia and layout skills, HTML and CGI
 programming.  UNIX system administration skills highly desirable.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to act
 decisively and work with a dynamic team.  Strong organizational skills
 and excellent sense of visual and structural design.  Creativity and
 problem solving skills.  Understanding of academic institutions and
 libraries.

 SALARY:
 Salary dependent on qualifications and experience: from the mid 40s for
 Information Technology Support Specialist, and from the mid 50s for
 Senior Information Technology Support Specialist.
