27th Annual LOEX Conference
"Library User Education In The New Millennium: Blending Tradition,
Trends And Innovation"
March 11-13, 1999
The University of Houston Hilton
Houston, Texas
***Registration brochures were sent out on January 7, 1999. However, I
have learned that many people who requested them have not yet received
them. Information about online registration is below.***
Academic libraries are facing unparalleled change - changing user
populations, changing technologies, changing services and priorities.
Yet, many of the issues and challenges instruction librarians face today
are the same ones we noted twenty-seven years ago. We invite you to
join us at the 27th Annual LOEX Conference and explore how library user
education is evolving to thrive at the start of a new century. By
combining the best of our traditions with new techniques and
technologies, we can continue to provide our users with the knowledge
and skills they will need in the future.
Sharing their observations with us are two talented and insightful
speakers. Our keynote speaker, Cheryl LaGuardia, is the Coordinator of
the Electronic Teaching Center, Harvard University Libraries. Dr. John
H. Lienhard, our featured speaker, is the author and voice of the
National Public Radio series "The Engines of Our Ingenuity," and the
M.D. Anderson Professor of Mechanical Engineering and History at The
University of Houston.
The Conference Web site
<http://wwwnhc.nhmccd.edu/public/lrc/~noremm/loex99.htm> includes:
--an online registration form

--a tentative schedule.
