Register for ACRL's 9th National Conference, "Racing Toward Tomorrow,"
by January 18, 1999, and save 30% off regular conference registration
fees!

The conference, held in Detroit, Michigan, April 8-11, 1999, will
allow you to keep pace and provide leadership for the future
direction of academic libraries. Pat Schroeder, President and CEO of
the Association of American Publishers, and James Neal, Sheridan
Director of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library at the Johns Hopkins
University, will participate in an Open Forum on Copyright and Fair
Use to kickoff the conference.

More than 200 conference programs will explore issues such as
scholarly communication, electronic publishing, distance learning,
alternate funding, outcomes assessment, and information literacy .
Build a campus team and attend the first-ever
Conference-within-a-Conference, "Student Learning in an Information
Age." Plan to visit the exhibits and see state-of-the-art
publications, technology, media products, and services available to
academic and research librarians.

Network with your peers at roundtable discussions, poster sessions,
and all-conference events, or sharpen your skills through an intensive
one-day training at an optional preconference. Additional
information
about conference programs can be found at
http://www.ala.org/acrl/prendex.html.

For the first time, you can register on-line at:
http://www.ala.org/acrl/prendex.html.
Registration materials have also been mailed.

Early bird registration fees are $255 for ACRL members; $330 for ALA
personal members; $425 for non-members; and $95 for full-time library
students. Registration fees include admission to all programs, the
exhibits, two lunches, an opening reception, a reception at the new
Museum of African American History, and an "after-hours" with ACRL at
the renowned Henry Ford Museum.

Questions concerning registration or conference programs should be
directed to Margot Sutton at 800-545-2433, ext. 2522; e-mail:
msutton@ala.org.

Don't miss the premiere conference for academic librarians! Be sure
to register by January 18, 1999, and save!
