The Local Systems and Services Committee (of the American Library
Association/Reference and User Services Association/Machine Assisted
Reference
Section) is beginning work on a directory of innovative and creative
Web-based
reference services in various categories such as
*expert systems
*reference menu organization
*reference FAQ databases
*reference department intranets
*locally produced bibliographic and full-text databases
*tutorials
*others?
Do you know of any libraries that have done innovative or creative work
in such
areas? Perhaps your own academic, public, or special library? If yes,
please
send me a *short* description of the project and a URL or sample.
The Local Systems and Services Committee will review your suggestions
and
develop criteria over the upcoming months to use in identifying a few
outstanding examples in each category. The final result of this project
will
be a Web site with descriptions and links for three to five sites in
each of the
various categories.
Thank you!
