As one of the early contributors to PACS-L, I'd have to agree with
Dan Marmion's assertion that PACS-L has been moderated from the
start. Of all the postings I've sent to PACS-L, I think that maybe one
has been rejected.....and I thought in advance that maybe that posting
was off target.
I don't think that the recent decline in PACS-L traffic has that much to
do with the current PACS-L moderators, despite what Vigdor might think. :-)
Someone recently pointed out that Web4Lib (among other lists) is dealing
with the issues that used to be the purview of PACS-L. PACS-L was a
unique list when it started in the 1980s. PACS-L was very important at
that time. But times were different then. Maybe it's time for PACS-L to
reconsider its purpose. Personally, I think that PACS-L can still play a
valuable role. But I think that it might be the time to reconsider what that
role is.
