RESPONSIBILITIES: Librarians function as information consultants focusing on
information and research needs in specific areas.  Information
consultant/Librarians work closely with faculty in instructional and research
programs, building active partnerships as they assess information needs,
locate
and deliver relevant information, and promote information competency skills.
Additionally, Librarian/Information Consultants participate in Reference
Services and develop information resources in specific areas.

ENVIRONMENT:  The Library & Information Center (www.library.gatech.edu) is
central to the Institute's instructional and research programs.  The Georgia
Institute of Technology, with nearly 20,000 faculty, students, and staff, is
one of the nation's outstanding universities, with nationally recognized
academic programs in science and engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Required: ALA-accredited MLS.  Undergraduate or graduate
degree
in appropriate subject field.  Two (2) years experience in marketing/promoting
and providing information services in a special or academic library.
Experience in the use of electronic and networked resources.  Knowledge of
current and emerging information technologies.  Ability to work effectively
with all levels of customers and colleagues in a rapidly changing and
technology-intensive environment.  Effective communication/interpersonal
skills.  All new employees must demonstrate employment eligibility
verification
as required by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Services.

SALARY & BENEFITS:   Salary is competitive, depending on credentials and
