Cataloger, Germanic Language Monographs, Harvard College Library

Under direction of the Team Leader of the German/Scandinavian Cataloging
Team, catalogs German-language monographs in the Humanities and Social
Sciences. Original cataloging and associated authority work will be done
on the Harvard Online Library Information System (HOLLIS), to national
standards, using AACR2, LC subject headings and classification, and USMARC
formats. Edits OCLC member-contributed copy as team workload requires.
Assists in training student and support staff and in coordination of
workflow. Performs related duties as required in providing intellectual
access to an important segment of the Harvard collections.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree from an accredited library school or equivalent; fluent
reading knowledge of German; working knowledge of additional Germanic
languages, especially Dutch and/or Scandinavian languages, highly
desirable; three to five years' cataloging experience, preferably in a
large research library; thorough knowledge of cataloging tools, standards,
and conventions; ability to work effectively in a collaborative team
environment; excellent organizational/interpersonal skills in order to be
able to contribute to an evolving work situation requiring flexibility and
versatility; knowledge of HOLLIS and OCLC desirable.
Compensation: Anticipated hiring salary in the mid 30's. Major benefits
