TECHNICAL SERVICES / ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County, an honors university serving
10,000 undergraduate and graduate students, has recently invested in a new
library building featuring extensive technological development and online
resources (see www.umbc.edu/library). The Albin O. Kuhn Library now seeks
a hands-on professional to manage monographic acquisitions, supervise
staff and student assistants, provide leadership in application of
technology to acquisitions and technical services, monitor and report on
materials budgets, and participate in Technical Services management.
Salary $33,000 to $ 39,000 depending on qualifications. Attractive
benefits.
Qualifications: An ALA-accredited MLS and at least one year professional
technical services experience are required. Acquisitions and supervisory
experience strongly preferred. Experience in an academic library using an
integrated information management system highly desired. Must
demonstrate understanding of publishing trade and acquisitions issues,
effective communication skills, and ability to organize and complete
projects.
