"Configuring Z39.50 Clients and Servers: A View From the Trenches"
Slavko Manojlovich, Memorial University of Newfoundland
Saturday June 27, 2-4pm
Holiday Inn on the Hill, room Federal N
Washington, D.C.
An understanding of Z39.50 alone is not enough to guarantee that libraries
will be able to take advantage of the promise of the standard to provide
seamless access to a variety of information resources via a common user
interface. The session will provide attendees with a review of the current
state of affairs, a behind-the-scenes look at Z39.50 (dirty little
secrets) and practical advice on configuring access to a variety of
servers including SilverPlatter ERL, LC and OCLC FirstSearch.
Speaker: Slavko Manojlovich
Assistant to the University Librarian For Systems and Planning,
Queen Elizabeth II Library
Memorial University of Newfoundland
St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada
Sponsored by the LITA Programmer/Analyst Interest Group
