Subject: dec infoservers
I would like to hear from people with experience with the DEC Infoserver for
cd-roms on a network. Bentley College of Waltham, MA. will be installing one
in early '93 and we would like to know what your software interface looks like,
what kinds of training is necessary for users, etc.
Thanks in advance --Please send responses to Amy Lewontin Bentley College,
175 Forest St., Waltham, MA. 02154 or preferably ALEWONTIN@BENTLEY.BITNET

Subject: Self-serve circ
We are interested in knowing the hardware and software configurations of
self service circulation systems used by institutions to
allow patrons to record their own circulation charges.
We are particularly interested in standalone systems which interact
with NOTIS, i.e. record data in standalone mode and then download.
Vendor names would be helpful, of course as well as your perception of
how well the standalone system works.
Sorry about the cross listing on PACS-L; NOTIS-L; and on the CIRC-L
boards.
Please reply to me directly:

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Subject: OCLC workstation options
I would like to hear from other OCLC libraries who have decided
against continually upgrading their workstations. I am especially
interested in hearing from libraries whose decision not to upgrade
specific terminals was based upon limited functionality for those
terminals, e.g., the terminals supported only record transfer to the
local system.

What kinds of equipment are you running? How are you handling
terminal maintenance? Communications maintenance? What are your
upgrade plans for Prism 2?

Thanks for your response.

Subject: WANTED SUGGESTIONS
From: skpad@csa.iisc.ernet.in
Suggestions and references for developing a software for FILTERING,
CLASSIFYING,STORING and subsequently RETIRIEVING the information coming
on various Bulletin Boards,Electronic conferences, and electronic publications.
The proposed software will be able to take information from the user about
the area in which he is intrested (in the form of key terms using boolean
logic or otherwise).Based on the request it will be able to suggest the useful
lists, subscribe to the approved list, and on reciept of information from the
list filter, classify and store only the information rlevant to the user.
User should be then able to retrieve required information as and when he wants
based on query(key terms using boolean logic) supplied by him.

Responses will be summarised and circulated on the list
