Researcher
=======================================
Provide Microsoft Library customers with targeted research assistance.
Proactively inform them about events and trends affecting their business.
You'll team with a customer group, learn the technical needs of the group,
anticipate research needs, creatively reach out to the group, and respond to
information requests (email, phone-in, and walk-in) using a wide variety of
resources (databases, secondary market research, print materials, Internet,
etc. Create a homepage and edit/maintain relevant content. Manage secondary
market research vendors - includes contract negotiation, content evaluation,
and collection development/retention policies for that vendor. Requires a
passion for products and technology and a genuine interest in the work of
their customer group. Qualifications? BS/MS degree in Library Science,
Information Science, or Business Administration. 2+ years related work
experience, preferably in a special library. Working knowledge of online
databases, information retrieval technology, and PCs. Strong research and
presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects effectively under
deadline constraints. A clear understanding of Microsoft product lines,
selling models and technology is essential.

Collections Librarian
=======================================
Create and maintain processes that ensure superior acquisition, processing,
description, and circulation of market research materials. Supervise the
document delivery function for article fulfillment while maintaining timely
and superior customer service. Administrate permissions with publishers for
compliance. Help negotiate contracts with publishers. Drive the
cost-effective development of innovative solutions for electronic
information delivery. Help develop the automated Library serials module.
Evaluate automation tools and make recommendations.  Develop and implement
innovative solutions for improving workflow and integrating new tools into
the workflow by making changes and enhancements. Qualifications? Masters of
Librarianship with two years related work experience, preferably in a
special library in a high technology setting. Excellent communication skills
and the ability to manage multiple projects and work under deadline
constraints.  Knowledge and experience with electronic resources including
automated library systems, online databases and the Internet. Strong
commitment to customer service.

Research Manager
=======================================
Managing and directing the activities of the Information Services' Library
Research Group, you'll facilitate the understanding and transfer of world
class, quality information to Microsoft partners. Bottom line? The
information you provide gives us a critical competitive edge by facilitating
the best decisions and actions. You'll also provide long range planning of
the group, including marketing, budgeting, training, metrics reporting and
resource development. Qualifications? Strong background in management, plus
experience in a high-tech/business specialized corporate information
service. 8+ years professional experience, with at least 4 years in a
management position.  A thorough working knowledge of marketing research,
the world wide web, online databases, information retrieval technology,
project management and PCs. Ability to lead, motivate, and communicate with
others is necessary. Strong presentation skills. Excellent research and
writing skills. Analytical skills. Strong customer-service orientation. A
Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science or Business
Administration or equivalent experience

Web Engineer
=======================================
You'll create and implement the overall information structure and design for
MSWeb, a company-wide on-line information service, plus a variety of
underlying supporting sites such as LibraryWeb, HRWeb and other sites for
other groups within Microsoft. Drive the implementation of new technology,
as it becomes available. Provide training and consulting to Microsoft
employees on Intranet technologies, navigation tools and authoring via
training classes, seminars, brown-bags, and individual consulting.
Manage the MSWeb User Group, a webmaster forum for sharing technology and
communication issues. Qualifications? Master's Degree in Library or
Information Science. Strong knowledge of Internet/Intranet, the many
information resources available there, and various access tools. Well versed
with online databases and information services, information retrieval
technology, personal computers, and Microsoft systems and applications,
including HTML, Active X, Visual Basic, SQL, Microsoft Internet products and
Visual InterDev tools.

Systems Analyst
=======================================
Combining your technical/business skills as a consultant, a systems analyst,
and a project manager, you'll analyze development needs, management of
development project requirements, and schedules for mission-critical
internal systems and customer products in Information Services. Gather and
prioritize business requirements. Create a vision for the product with
development team. Ensure that functional specs address business
requirements, and conduct technical reviews of specs. Manage external
project communications with the customer and others. Track project progress
and manage schedule. Help provide training. Qualifications? Administrative
experience with  integrated online library or other database systems, and
with data modeling using tools like Rational Rose or ERWin. Experience
writing functional specifications and an understanding of Microsoft
Solutions Framework.  Experience with VBA and ASP a plus.  Ability to
communicate with a variety of people at all levels of the organization.
Strong negotiation and process initiation skills. Excellent oral and written
communication skills. Strong customer orientation. Masters degree in Library
Science or MBA with concentration in project management or MIS preferred.

Site Librarian
=======================================
At the Charlotte, NC site of the Microsoft Library, you'll serve the
circulation and information needs of a specific group based on a one-person
library model. Develop materials collection for a sponsoring customer
segment. Fill requests for reference and research from online and existing
sources. Maintain current knowledge of the software industry and products,
the Microsoft Corporation and its competitors, and the specific business of
the customer group. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Internet and
Intranet applications, and at least one automated library system. Occasional
travel to Redmond, WA required.

Senior Researcher
=======================================
If you've got a passion for high technology products and be a part of a
world-class information center, you've got a great opportunity at Microsoft.
As a Sr. Researcher, you'll consult/partner with a research workgroup and
customers to design and implement an information service strategy providing
proactive, visible and customized information solutions for internal
customers. Market the Library's products. Evaluate, facilitate and manage
the development/purchase of information resources. Set expectations for
performance. Coordinate training and other management issues.  You'll also
be responsible for rolling up the group's individual monthly reports,
providing consistent feedback, conducting performance reviews and
facilitating group meetings. Requires a clear understanding of Microsoft
product lines, selling models, technology and the organization.
Qualifications? 5+ years related work experience, preferably in a special
library. Thorough working knowledge of online databases, information
retrieval technology, and PCs.  The ability to lead and motivate others
required.  Strong presentation and research skills. Enjoyment of
communicating with clients. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects
simultaneously under continual deadline constraints. MA/MS in Library
Science, Information Science, or Business Administration preferred.
