OHIONET Annual Program Meeting
Multitype Library Cooperation
March 27, 1998
Villa Milano, Columbus
Cooperation between different types of libraries is changing the
traditional view of libraries today. In Ohio, OhioLINK, INFOhio, and
OPLIN add another dimension. Join us at the OHIONET Annual Program
Meeting for a day of lively discussion on multitype library cooperation.
Our keynote speaker, Bridget Lamont (Illinois State Library) will tell us
how it works in her state.
Michael Butler (OHIONET) will moderate a reaction panel of three Ohio
leaders in cooperation. Panelists Theresa Fredericka (INFOhio), Carol
Lynn Roddy (OPLIN), and Tom Sanville (OhioLINK) will provide response
from their unique perspectives
Afternoon breakout sessions will be presented on the following topics
The Discovery Place Libraries group includes three public, one academic,
and one school library. This unique cooperative arrangement includes a
shared OPAC, innovative licensing of electronic resources, cooperative
purchasing of supplies, delivery services, and a strong commitment to
resource sharing
INFOhio is working cooperatively with the State Library of Ohio to
promote best practices of schools and other types of libraries.
NetWellness is a Web-based consumer health information service that began
as a regional effort in 1994. In 1997, NetWellness expanded statewide,
collaborating on content with The Ohio State University Health Sciences
Center and the Case Western University School of Medicine, and
collaborating on public access to information with the State Library of
Ohio, Ohio Public Library Information Network (OPLIN), and OhioLINK. The
complete suite of NetWellness resources are available to all Ohio
citizens in public libraries via OPLIN
The University of Akron has had some successful and not-so-successful
collaborative ventures. Roger Durbin will discuss identifying partners,
establishing and maintaining relationships, transforming ideas into
coherent projects, and accomplishing success resolutions to partnerships
