I have been asked by our college president to make inquiries of
libraries regarding implementation of a campuswide all-purpose
ID/debt/charge card system and its integration with the library's
automation system. We are looking at the AT&T Campuswide card system,
specifically the OPTIMCard. We are a small community college and
currently run the Galaxy library automation software.

I would appreciate responses to the following questions:

Is your library planning to implement a campuswide ID/debt card system,
such as the AT&T System, or has it already implemented such a system?

Will/Does the library use the card to charge services, such as copying,
computer printing, etc.?

How did the integration process go? Pitfalls?

I would especially appreciate insights from folks who:

(1) have experience integrating the AT&T card system, especially with
the Galaxy software

(2) have experience integrating any other, similar, card system with the
Galaxy software

(3) have experience with integrating the AT&T card system with any
library automation software focused on the small academic library.

Thanks, in advance, for your assistance.

Deb
