The Sri Lanka National Library is currently exploring the
possibility of automating its card catalog using a MARC-based system. The
Library's collection includes materials in Sinhala, Tamil, and English,
three languages with three completely different scripts. Most American
library catalogs merely transliterate bibliographic data in non-Roman
scripts, but the Sri Lanka National Library will require a system which can
store and retrieve data in all three scripts.
I am seeking recommendations for MARC-based systems with the
capacity to handle non-Roman scripts. I would be particularly interested in
hearing about vendors already doing business elsewhere in Southern Asia.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Regards,
Steve
