In the Great Bend, KS public library, we have a setup with four 486-66
computers on a connection to the internet. We went with a four computer
print sharing device rather than with a network setup. Just figuring that
with Win95 and internet on a 486 and 16Mb of ram, printer sharing might be
too much of a load.

The system has worked well. Especially after we replaced the Laserjet 5L
with a Laserjet 6P. The extra speed of the printer seems to have helped
quite a bit. Of course patrons will still hit print two and three times
because their job doesn't come out immediately. But what can you do? :-(

I might also mention that we had to go with the PCL driver as
bi-directional communications didn't work through the sharing device. My
only other comment is that the costs of having a public access ink-jet
scare me! Of course your milage may vary.

Cordially,

Steve Thomas
