Vacancy Announcement

University of Idaho Library, Reference Librarian:  Two, half-time
assistant professor positions; full faculty status, rank and
responsibilities; non-tenure track, permanent  12-month appointment.  This
position offers the successful candidate an excellent career opportunity
as a university faculty member and academic librarian.

Responsibilities:  general reference service (including some evening and
weekend hours); collection management and liaison in assigned areas;
participates in library instruction program, uses and develops electronic
information resources, meets faculty criteria for promotion.

Starting date:  Early 1998.

Salary and benefits:  Beginning at $13,000, depending on experience;
standard state life and health insurance; and retirement options including
TIAA-CREF.

Qualifications:
Required:  ALA-accredited MLS; reference experience; strong service
orientation; ability to establish harmonious relationships in a collegial
environment where user service and instruction are a priority; experience
in use of electronic information resources; and excellent communication skills.
Desired:  experience in instruction and collection management; evidence of
initiative and creativity; significant course work in the sciences or
science reference experience, academic library reference experience.
