San Diego's beautiful Mission Bay will be the setting for "Information
Delivery in the 21st Century: Surviving the Millennium". Anyone
currently operating a fee-based service, information brokers, and
corporate librarians considering charging fees for in-house services
will be interested in attending.
For those who are thinking of setting up a fee-based information
service, there will be a day-long preconference on Thursday, October
30th. The general conference will take place from Friday, October 31st
to Saturday, November 1st.

Steve Coffman, Helen Josephine -- Foundations for Success:
Planning a Fee-Based Service from Proposal to Opening Day
"Foundations for Success: Planning a Fee-Based Service from
Proposal to Opening Day will be conducted by Helen Josephine,
currently Collections Librarian at Menlo College, with
previous experience as the founder and manager of two fee-
based services in academic libraries, and Steve Coffman of
FYI with the County of Los Angeles Public Library. The
program will cover basic questions that must be answered
before creating a fee-based service as well as explore
various models for service design and operation. Special
considerations for both academic and public libraries will
also be addressed. Designed for library administrators and
others considering starting a fee-based information service.

The conference registration fee includes: participation in any and all
sessions of the conference, daily luncheons, welcome reception on
Thursday evening, October 30th, on a bay cruise with buffet-style
meal, and a vendor reception on Friday evening, October 31st.
