EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES and their Impact on the Library

September 16, 1997

10:00am  - 3:00pm

at the Columbus Metro Library,
96 South Grant Street, Columbus Ohio

Librarians have a large stake in the future direction of
technology, but  little time to keep up with the changes.

This workshop begins with a primer on the current applications
of technology in office and management settings. The focus
then shifts to emerging technologies such as electronic
dissemination of information, artificial intelligence,
networking and telecommunications , and their expected impact on
libraries in the next several years.

The session includes brief group discussions on the ethical
considerations of information technology.

Prerequisite:  None. For all levels

Instructor:  Anne Abate, law librarian at Dinsmore and Shohl,
in Cincinnati.  Anne recently completed her doctorate in
Computer Technology in Education.

Audience:  For beginners as well those working with new library
technologies in all types of libraries.

approximately 2 weeks prior to workshop.  Refund policy:
Workshop fees are non-refundable after the registration
deadline.  You may cancel and receive a full refund up to that
date. Afterwards you may s end a substitute; please inform
OHIONET who the substitute will be ahead of time. Cancellation
notice is accepted by phone, fax or e-mail.  OHIONET reserves
the right to cancel a workshop, in this ca se a full refund will
be made to each registrant.
