CALL FOR WORKSHOP PRESENTATIONS
SERVING USERS IN THE NEW MILLENIUM: PLANNING, DELIVERING,
EVALUATING
RUSA National Institute
October 29-31, 1998
Indianapolis, Indiana
PURPOSE
The goal of the Institute is to explore themes related to
planning, delivering, and evaluating services to library users in
the future. As part of these themes, we hope to focus on a broad
range of issues such as: change, technology, strategies,
organizational development, and staff training. The Institute
will be divided into 4 to 5 one-and-one-half day workshops
covering specific topics related to the conference theme.
SUBMISSIONS
The deadline for Workshop Presentation Proposals is August 31,
1997. Criteria by which the Institute Workshop Proposals will be
judged are:
1. Relevance to the RUSA Institute theme: Serving Users in the
New Millenium.
2. Ability to attract a substantial audience (about 100
participants).
3. Workshop design appropriate for presentation to a large
audience.
4. Cost to present the Workshop. Workshop proposals must include
detailed descriptions of equipment, facilities, and any other
requirements.
5. Qualifications of the Workshop presenters (experience and
expertise on the Workshop topic).
6. Quality of the proposal, including focus on material
participants will be able to apply
7. Workshop proposals which are one-and-one-half days and thus,
fit into the time frame for the Institute.

Up to $500 is available for each selected Workshop presentation
to reimburse presenters for travel expenses. The Institute will
begin with a dinner Thursday evening (Oct. 29). Workshops will
be Friday (Oct. 30) and Saturday morning (Oct.31).
