Position Title: Systems Librarian in the Harvard University Library, Office
for                 Information Systems

Salary Grade 56/57              Hiring Range: $32,800-49,100

Required: The Office for Information Systems provides large-scale systems
and network support to the libraries at Harvard.  This involves supporting
HOLLIS, an integrated library system, as well as providing public access to a
wide variety of information resources located both at Harvard and elsewhere
through HOLLIS Plus, a World- Wide-Web based information system.  The
successful candidate for this position will be heavily involved in a project
to migrate the Harvard integrated library system from the mainframe to a
distributed, client-server system over the next several years.

Required/Preferred Education Skill: Mater's degree in Library/Information
Science or equivalent training and experience.  Some working experience in
an academic library.  Solid understanding of the application of computers in
an academic library setting.  Demonstrated aptitude for technical analysis
and programming.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Desirable: Familiarity with a broad range of computing platforms (e.g., IBM
mainframe, UNIX, Windows, NT, Macintosh); Experience with two or more of the
following: PL/1, BAL, CICS, C, C++, TCP/IP, RDBMs, World Wide Wed.  Working
familiarity with more than one integrated library system.
