Enough people seem to find the reports I have posted on PACS-L
to be useful, so I will continue doing them. However, I have
tried to limit my reports to conferences where librarians are
in the minority or not present at all. I have not reported,
recently anyway, on ones where many PACS-L readers might be.

However, I think it would be great if the reporters copied
PACS-L when they sent their material to Walt Crawford, or
if someone would post short summaries of their favorite
sessions. There are thousands on this list who don't get
to attend many, if any, meetings. 10 years ago my library
would not have footed the bill for my attending the annual
state conference, let alone something like ALA or LITA.

I'd like to encourage people to share their notes, and you
don't have to be as verbose as I am. For instance, there was
a meeting in Ann Arbor on gopher, a phenomenon that has
really spread quickly on the Net. I wish the librarians who
attended would let us know what happened. There are a lot
of regional conferences that might have interesting sessions to
share.

If you have to do a trip report for your boss or colleagues,
make it serve two purposes and do a version for this mailing list.
I know from email responses that the report travel quickly and
far outside the realm of library-land.
