Creating links between A&I articles and their corresponding fulltext
Programmer Analyst Interest Group Meeting
ALA 97 (San Francisco)
Monday, June 30 at 8:30 a.m.
Westin St. Francis - Geogrian Room
Please join us for what promises to be a very interesting presentation
by Margery Tibbetts from U.C. Department of Library Automation. The
title of Margery's presentation is "Creating links between A&I
articles and their corresponding fulltext".
This presentation will discuss how links are being created
between articles in the various MELVYL system A&I databases and their
corresponding fulltext/image files. There are a variety of sources for
the fulltext/image files but they fall into two
general catagories, files maintained by the University of California
Library Automation (DLA) and files maintained by the publishers.
Topics to be covered include:
- brief overview of the architecture of the MELVYL
system on the WEB
- how the links to DLA maintained fulltext/image files are
created and maintained
- how the links to the publishers sites are created
and maintained
- general problem areas encountered with creating the
links to publishers sites
