UNCLASSIFIED STAFF POSITION
POSITION: Multimedia Support/Educational Technology Librarian
DATE OF APPOINTMENT: 1 September 1997
SALARY: $23,500 - $30,000 Annual salary rate depending on experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions: Responsible for providing technical support for
the University's and Library's digital information programs and
educational technology applications, including multimedia
programs/presentations, digital collections and finding aids, authoring
software, and development of the Library's Web page. Provides direct
support to faculty and students in multimedia and WWW applications and
selects and installs the Library's multimedia resources. Also responsible
for all activities relating to the operations of the Audio-Visual (AV)
Unit, including supervision of a library assistant. Serves as a member
of the Library team, developing expertise relating to the use and
development of multimedia applications and systems.
Other functions: Participates in Reference Desk coverage including
evening and weekend rotation; prepares policies, procedures, and reports;
and conducts library instruction sessions. Performs other
library-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Academic: M.L.S. or its equivalent from an ALA accredited
program.
Experience: Preferred: one to two years work in an academic
library setting including experience with AV materials, development of
multimedia applications or systems, faculty liaison experience, and
supervisory experience. Also preferred: expertise with NOTIS, the use of
Internet/WWW, and presentation and authoring programs.
SPECIAL SKILLS OR REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work effectively in a team
setting. Essential to be a quick study with strong oral and written
communication skills. Must be committed to public service and be able to
interact tactfully with faculty, students, and members of the community.

POSITION: Business/Economics Bibliographer
RESPONSIBILITIES: Evaluates and develops subject collections and
electronic resources in business, economics, geography and planning;
monitors allocated funds, continuing commitments and approval plans.
Serves as liaison to faculty and students in the corresponding
academic departments; provides them with subject-specific user
education and in-depth reference. Serves as liaison for European
Union depository program and reviews other international documents.
Also provides general reference services during assigned hours,
including some evenings and weekends. Reports to the Assistant
Director for Collection Development. Research, publication and
service to the Libraries, University and profession are expected to
satisfy criteria for continuing appointment and promotion.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: MLS degree from an ALA accredited library
school. Undergraduate major and/or advanced study in business,
economics, geography, urban or regional planning. Preferred:
Experience in using law publications and online business and legal
publications. Desired: Relevant experience in an academic or
special library subsequent to receipt of MLS.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. Salary minimum
for Assistant Librarian $28,000; Senior Assistant Librarian $32,000;
Associate Librarian $38,000.
TERMS & BENEFITS: Twelve month appointment; sick leave and annual
leave @ 1.25 days each per month; health insurance, major medical or
Health Maintenance Organization. Social Security coverage.
TIAA/CREF or New York State Teachers Retirement available (employee

lower Manhattan, seeks a Circulation Manager to coordinate and administer
all aspects of library circulation and reserve collection services. The
Circulation Manager maintains the circulation module of our INNOPAC
system; trains, schedules and supervises Circulation Desk personnel; and
participates in the planning and implementation of circulation and
reserve collection policies. The job entails extensive supervisory

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR USER SERVICES/COORDINATOR OF STAFF DEVELOPMENT
SUNY Geneseo is searching for a highly-motivated, experienced and
innovative administrator to coordinate implementation, management and
assessment of user services and staff development within rapidly evolving
academic libraries.
Associate Director will work closely with director, branch library
manager and public service department heads. Direct participation in
reference services and library instruction program required. Work with
director to secure government grants, private foundation support and
industry partnerships.
Candidates must possess strong commitment to service excellence and
proven supervisory skill in such areas as reference, library instruction,
circulation/reserve, ILL/document delivery, staff development.
Required: ALA-accredited MLS; several years successful experience in
user services, especially reference and library instruction; demonstrated
effective integration of information technologies within user services;
and strong commitment to the academic library as a teaching institution.
