The University of Rhode Island (URI) Library has a classroom equipped
with 15 workstations (30 seats) and a teacher's workstation with classnet
(teacher can control students' keyboards). We project onto a 42" Mitsubishi
monitor and also have a visualizer. Netscape is the internet access
software. The PCs connect to our OPAC and our NOVELL networked CD-ROMs.
We use the classroom primarily for our BI sessions, staff training, and
new online and web product demonstrations. Our policy also allows us to
make it available for GSLIS workshops and to other library organizations
(such as SLA/RI and several RI consortia, such as HELIN, CRIARL) for training
programs and workshops. It is a wonderful facility which we got with a
grant in the Spring of 1994.
