Subject: Technical Service Librarian@San Jacinto College
San Jacinto College Library seeks a person to direct its information
technology efforts. This person will be responsible for helping to
plan, build and maintain the library's computer and netware systems. We
are seeking an innovator who has the skills of the emerging information
systems.
Our goal is to build information systems that directly support our
teaching programs.
Qualifications: MLA from an ALA-accredited library program preferred.
Experience in technical services and training in Novell networks,
knowledge of AACR2, and MARC formats, experience in OCLC and knowledge
of HTML language. Good written and oral communication skills.
San Jacinto College Central, located in Pasadena, Texas, is an
accredited community college that serves 10,000 students and is part of
a district that includes three campuses serving 20,000. The College
offers the Associate of Arts degree for students who plan university
transfer and also offers strong programs in technology and Health
Sciences for students who wish to obtain credentials in a specific
technical field.
The College Library's integrated library system controls over 200,000
bibliographic records and a large reserve and periodical collection on
three campuses. The Library has a CD-ROM Novell network that serves
three campuses and plans to build web pages that support the curriculum.
Salary: $31,000
