Dan Lester, get your little fanny out there on the reference desk, in the
heat of an extremely busy afternoon forget about the cameras, and too late
realize you just gave security a 10-minute "cheesecake" of you standing
behind the Kirk-Oethmers hitching your sensible tights up around your
waist... you would feel VERY differently about cameras on the ref desk! I
have been there!

I have been reading this debate with interest. In general I would agree
with those who say that the camera is an intrusion, legal or not.
I would just like to make a general point - just because something CAN be
done doesn't mean it SHOULD be.
