Several people have said they see the camera at the desk as a privacy
violation. Dan Lester says this is a non-issue and makes a real argument
for that.

Forget about privacy for a moment--what about patron *comfort*?!! Our
poor students are often too scared to approach the desk, anyway. We know
that many who should do not at all, and of those that do, how many stand
to the side waiting to be noticed, apologize for interupting you, or
begin with "I know this is a stupid question..." Folks, they ain't
comfortable with us! Is having a camera pointed at them going to help
this situation? I think not!

Personally, as much as I love attention, I would *hate* to work with a
camera focused on me. But even more important than that is what kind of
effect it's going to have on patrons who need to use our services. If it
discourages them in the least, don't do it!
