Subject: Security?
I am rather new to the object oriented programming world and would like to
create an application where I can restrict access to different screens and
portions of different screens. Example: I would want to control whether a
person would be allowed into a specified screen and then, if they are
allowed, whether they can add/edit/delete ... records.
I know how I would do the in "older" structured programming style, what
would you recommend for this environment using methods or properties. Maybe
you could point me to a book that gives different options. Basically, I am
floundering around out here trying to find the best route.

Subject: Integrated System Startup Queries
Colleagues,
In considering possible options for bringing up an integrated library
system, we would like to have answers to some questions. Has anyone in an
academic library brought up a new integrated system in the middle of a
school year? If so, what publicity or educational strategies were you
able to implement that made this a feasible option for you?
An additional question concerns the possibility of bringing up an
integrated system in stages. Has anyone brought up a system in stages,
with different modules implemented before others? If so, what module(s)
were brought up first, e.g. OPAC, CIRC, CAT? Were you to do it again,
would you change the order?
