The Eleventh Texas Conference on Library Automation will be sponsored by
the University of Houston Libraries at the Renaissance Houston Hotel on
April 25-26, 1997.

The Conference will present two keynote addresses plus 24 papers in three
tracks.  The Information Resources and Services track will focus on
topics such as library services through the World Wide Web, technology
and collection development, the public library as the technology provider
for the have-nots, and technology to support library services for
distance learning.  The Planning and Management track will cover
retro-fitting libraries for technology, legal issues of electronic
reserves, client-server online library systems, and intellectual property
rights and privacy in the electronic library.  The Tutorial track will
present specific pratical information on cataloging Internet resources,
crash-resistant electronic services, developing and managing a library
web site, security issues for library technology, and mastering the
Internet job search.

Keynote speakers will be Shirley K. Baker, Washington University
Libraries, St. Louis and William J. Crowe, Univeristy of Kansas.  Other
featured speakers will include Barbara Gubbin, Houston Public Library;
Georgia Harper, University of Texas System; Fred Heath, Texas A&M
University; Bob Martin, Texas State Library; June Garcia, San Antonio
Public Library; Arne Almquist, University of North Texas; Dana Rooks,
University of Houston; Carol Pitts Diedrichs, Ohio State University; and
Marilu Goodyear, University of Kansas.

The registration fee for the conference will be $150 if postmarked by
March 31, 1997 and $175 thereafter.  For further information contact Mary
