I am doing a case study about issues involved in designing a reference
collection database to be loaded on a personal computer for staff and
patron use. It will include bibliographic citations and collection
maintenance information, with mixed record length and fixed and free
fields. We would be downloading bibliographic and holdings records
from our already existing online catalog system, to create a separate
reference database. Suggestions on database structure and other
design considerations will be greatly appreciated. Please respond to
