Our university administrators are desperate for information on actual
requirements of accrediting agencies as relates to academic libraries
in distance learning/remote campus situations. For example, does
SACS require an onsite reference librarian on a remote campus? I'm
particularly interested in anyone's recent practical experiences with
any national accrediting agencies for engineering, computer science,
and nursing. In the best Dilbert management tradition, the plans
have already been laid to establish the remote campuses, but little
or no funding will be provided for library services, regardless of
what the accreditors say.
I'll be contacting SACS (our regional group) and running an ERIC
search, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
